Direct cremation (also known as unattended cremation) is a low-cost option, where there is no ceremony or public attendance. We have found that many families wish to take advantage of this simple, affordable funeral option, often taking the opportunity to have a separate celebration of the deceased person’s life that isn’t connected with the cremation itself. We offer direct cremation services in the Wickford area, as well as in other towns in Essex, including Southend-On-Sea, Chelmsford, Basildon, Great Bentley and Upminster. we offer this service from as little as £1395.00*. If you wish to use a different crematorium, or would like some time in the crematorium chapel, this can of course happen. Please bear in mind that this would alter the fee.

Pre-paid direct cremation plans
While a direct (unattended) cremation is probably the most affordable funeral option, we understand that it is still an expense that you may well wish to spare your loved ones at a difficult time. As such, we offer pre-paid funeral plans for direct cremation, allowing you to ensure that your funeral is paid for in advance, and that your wishes are known and carried out.

What Does a Direct (Unattended) Cremation Include?
Local and in hours collection of your loved one.
The relevant paperwork will be prepared for you and sent out for signing. Alternatively, you could come into the office to sign. Once this is done, we shall arrange the date and time.
The cremation will usually take place at Basildon & District Crematorium and will happen with no-one present. However, there are also alternative crematoriums in the area including Chelmsford, Southend-on-Sea, Great Bentley and Upminster, please be aware the price will vary depending on your chosen crematorium (pricing information can be found further down this page). With direct cremation, your loved one is taken to the crematorium in our hearse and uniformed staff are in attendance, to make sure there is the upmost respect.
After the cremation takes places, we can hand deliver the cremated remains to you, or you may come along to our premises to collect in person. Alternatively, if you wish, the cremated remains may be scattered in the Garden of Remembrance at the Crematorium.
